Seventh Generation has made plant-based home products for over 27 years and is probably best known for its cleaning products. The company is dedicated to making its products as green as possible. In fact, that’s where the name comes from. According to the company, they got it from the Great Law of the Iroquois, which say, “in our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.”
Any reader of our blog knows how important sustainability is to all of us at Ernest, and we couldn’t agree more with that idea—which is why we were pretty excited when they introduced their new sustainable dishwashing detergent packaging in January.
All of these companies are focused on natural products. While the detergent and the plastic holding it in place are biodegradable, they ran into a snag with the plastic bag.
Can you see that bag had to be waterproof, because even a little moisture could turn all of those lovely little packs into a gluey mess of powder and half-dissolved plastic? The new packaging changes everything. Now made out of recyclable polyethylene, the bag can be dropped off with other poly bags at recycling locations like the bag drops at your local grocery store.
