How Ernest Packaging Solutions Packaged a BMX Bike

June 18, 2013

If there were an X Games of packaging, Ernest Packaging Solutions’ engineers would take the gold medal, and probably the silver and bronze for good measure as we tear off into the sunset on our jetpack skateboards blasting 80s hair metal at full volume.

It’s just how we roll.

Take a look at the recent work we did for one of our clients, BMX legend/Hollywood stuntman/all-around cool guy Eddie Fiola. Eddie Fiola Inc.’s Marketing Director, Jeremy Moser, came to Ernest Packaging Solutions in need of a creative, striking yet still functional packaging solution for his new limited-edition BMX frame called the EF Proformer.

Moser asked Ernest Packaging Solutions to design and develop a shipper to house the bike’s frame, fork, handlebar and PR kit. Ernest’s Engineer Retail Expert, Stephen Simich, and other Ernest engineering experts, were given two requests: keep the shipper recyclable and make it awesome.

Says Simich, “The container was going to be engineered out of corrugated, but there was no way this piece was going to end up as a box! Immediately, our Client Relationship Manager Bill Neill and I knew the answer was a hexagon. How could it not be, when the geometric shape of the bicycle frame screamed at us?”

“Every element of the Proformer product and brand, along with our packaging, conveys a seamless message of pure energy,” Simich says.
