Shredding cardboard has never sounded so sweet.

Welcome to San Diego and another rock “n” episode of Cardboard Sessions. Our beloved series where ingenuity and imagination mingle with the top musical minds.

As always, Cardboard Sessions came to life by drawing inspiration from MTV Unplugged and NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts. The stage is small, but the sweet sound of cardboard shredding can be heard from coast to coast. Episode 7 proudly introduces Swami John Reis, and a whole bunch of cardboard craziness turned on its head.

Surf Rock shred meets cardboard heads.

Southern California is no stranger to Surf Rock and legend Swami John Reis, from bands like Rocket From the Crypt, Hot Snakes, and many others. Fresh off their August 2022 full-band tour, these guys will get you amped up SoCal style.

Speaking of the coolest cats around, we never mind celebrating our partners at Signal! Without their epic Fender Stratocaster and paper drum kit designs, none of this music magic would be possible. These cardboard instruments have lasted SEVEN sessions featuring some truly monster riffs from legends.

We’re excited about this one. Swami John Reis and the band brought the rock, they brought the roll, and they took the session to a whole new cardboard level.

The team behind the tunes.

It’s easy to get caught up in the music, but we can’t forget why we call it Cardboard Sessions in the first place: the incredible paper instruments. All thanks to our Senior Design Specialists. It’s their innovative minds and can-do attitudes that created our paper Fender Stratocaster and drum kit and a whole bunch of other paper pieces.

Now that you know a little more about this unique experience, it’s time to hit the beach (even if it’s in your mind), crank your speakers, and experience the magic of music on SoundCloud. Till the next episode of Cardboard Sessions, hang loose.
