A GENRE-DEFYING DISPLAY.

The latest episode of Cardboard Sessions features the band Battles, with epic avant-rock futurists Ian Williams and John Stainer. They’re known for pushing the boundaries of time, space and genre, and they boast an impressive pedigree within the world of experimental rock. Episode 12 finds us in NYC at the famous Powerstation Studio. This illustrious locale is no stranger to the limelight, having hosted Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones and Madonna.

SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING YOU’VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE.

The respected New York City duo was formed in 2002, and their music has never stopped transforming. The only thing constant about their lively signature sound is that it’s constantly evolving. How cool is that? Think post-rock, prog, and psych with a touch of techno. If you’re into the mind-numbing normality of elevator music, these guys probably aren’t for you. But, if you’re into vocal-less hooks, wit and wild adventure, your earbuds are in for a delight.

THE FUTURE IS CORRUGATED.

This episode took the Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Masters of Maple drum kit to places they’ve never gone before, as you would imagine, with the reputation and signature sounds à la experimentation. But nothing can stop these guys or these cardboard creations. Take a listen. Get after it. And like always, this wouldn’t be possible without our Senior Design Specialists and our friends at Signal Snowboards. So many thanks.
