Ton Savon makes luxurious private label bath and beauty products in the South of France. When the company successfully pitched a new line of hand creams to Costco, they needed a packaging solution that would protect the product during shipment, meet Costco’s strict guidelines, and look attractive on the warehouse store floor. They turned to Ernest to get the job done right – and quickly.
We started by creating corrugated trays to display the beautifully designed tins facing outward, for maximum in-store appeal. Next, we engineered dividers plus a corrugated double shroud to protect the trays on the pallet. This ensures the product bears no weight during shipment or storage, and also makes it easier to remove the product once it’s sold. The result? Costco sold out and placed an additional order for 230 pallets. Ton Savon was thrilled with the design as well as with Ernest’s high quality customer service and affordable pricing.
From streamlining operations to maximizing cost efficiencies, our distribution and logistics expertise runs deep. Whether you need just-in-time inventory or speedy deliveries, we can help you re-think your processes and improve your bottom line.
Commodity Forwarders transports perishable goods like seafood, meat, and flowers to locations around the globe. If their shipments don’t get from point A to point B within strict deadlines, they end up with spoilage—which means lost money. Ernest has partnered with Commodity Forwarders for nearly a decade to solve their temperature control packaging challenges. When they came to us to improve performance and reduce costs even further, we were ready to innovate.
Ernest’s cold chain expert, Larry French, led the charge to create a new packaging solution that would protect their shipments from visible and infrared energy, and also visible light—extending the fault tolerances for longer periods. The biggest challenge was finding the right material due to constraints for food safety, airplane cargo environments, and costs. To meet these complex needs, Ernest created a patented, new TempEndure™ wrap. Now Commodity Forwarders doesn’t have to worry about shipments spoiling, even if they get delayed on the tarmac.
When it comes to retail food packaging, the right design can make or break your business. We’ve got expertise in every area, from temperature control and freshness to branding and display.
In the world of food products, marketers often overlook one key component of their product experience—the packaging. While they may spend months perfecting the product itself, from sourcing the best ingredients to streamlining processes, many companies see packaging as just another cost of doing business. At Ernest, we see it as an opportunity.
We’re experts at helping food product manufacturers and marketers make the most of their packaging. This means protecting the product from damage, keeping it fresh for as long as possible, making it pop on the shelf, and telling your brand story. At Ernest, we love coming up with better ways to protect delicate products during shipment—and nothing is more delicate than human blood. When we learned that our client was shipping over 10,000 blood specimen units a month, we set out to find a way to help them keep samples cold during shipment while also keeping costs down.
Spectracell Laboratories in Houston is a personal wellness engineer, specializing in proprietary micronutrient testing to help prevent and manage disease. In addition to drawing and testing blood in their on-site laboratory, they receive around 400 testing kits per day via Fedex, sent by physicians from around the world. While the packaging Spectracell was using did a good job protecting against breakage, it was temperature dependent—so if a specimen didn’t arrive within two days, it was no longer viable. This was costing the company considerable losses.
Enter Ernest. Working closely with Spectracell, we designed a new specimen shipping solution that solved the temperature problem and more. And as an added bonus, our just-in-time inventory management saves the company money, space, and stress.
From just-in-time inventory to testing and validation, we’ve got everything you need to package and distribute your health and pharmaceutical products. We’ll help you meet regulatory requirements and strict timelines to keep your bottom-line in great shape.
Smart Cups micro-encapsulated printed energy drinks are revolutionizing the beverage industry. With all the ingredients in the cup, all consumers have to do is add water and the ingredients dissolve completely — what the founder, Chris Kanik, calls, “the perfect pour.” This makes Smart Cups easier to ship, store, and carry around than traditional canned or bottled energy drinks. The company turned to Ernest to design a smart packaging solution that would seal in the product during shipment without adding to the weight or the costs.
Ernest helped Smart Cups design a moisture-resistant pouch that’s light, inexpensive, and easy to store before use. We also connected them with a vendor that custom built a machine to apply heat resistant shrink sleeves as an added layer of protection. The packaging design helps maximize shelf stability and optimizes cost efficiency, which is crucial for any startup. Smart Cups launched their initial direct to consumer line of energy drinks in December 2017, and began working on a new packaging design that will enable them to expand their offering to retail shelves, too.
At Ernest, there’s no such thing as impossible when it comes to packaging. Say your product has a V6, four wheels and weighs three thousand pounds. We’re on it. Or maybe it weighs next to nothing, but needs the utmost attention. We’ve got you on that front, too. We’ll work with your exact specifications, help you improve efficiencies and get the goods there safely. No matter the shape or size.
When Leatherman Tools, makers of high quality personal and professional use multi-tools for over 30 years, came to Ernest to help design a premium packaging for a new niche product, we couldn’t wait to get to work. Leatherman had recently launched a stainless steel bracelet featuring 29 tools contained within the 12 links to make it easier for people to travel with an everyday carry (EDC) tool. Because the wearable tool goes on your wrist, it only made sense to add a watch face—and the world’s first multi-tool watch was born.
When Leatherman was ready to launch the Tread Tempo, they wanted a packaging design that would look and feel like a traditional watch box and stand out on the shelf. It also needed to be extra sturdy to support the watch, which weighs over a pound. Ernest rose to the occasion, designing a packaging solution that fits the Tread Tempo precisely with sleek design details for a superior unboxing experience. We even helped Leatherman overcome a few obstacles on the fly so they could keep moving forward without delaying the launch.
